Wrapping up our skiing seasonMarch 10th, 2013 @ 10:02 pm
8-10 March 2013
2 weeks after we came back from our Malaysian trip, we were on the road again – for a weekend skiing trip. The trip was booked 2 months ago because it was supposed to be Terry’s alumi reunion. It was cancelled due to low response. I wanted to cancel the trip too but it may incur some cancellation cost, so I didn’t.
The weather condition was not great for skiing, rainy weather. We were thinking of alternative thing to do in case of real rainy condition. Luckily it was not the case. I asked Laura’s mom whether they would be interested in a skiing weekend. I was surprised to find out that the school ski and racing teams would be in Seefeld last weekend. And Laura would be there too. It would be a day trip for Laura and family. Actually, we could go for a skiing day trip too, but we were too spoiled, wanted to stay in a hotel to relax.
Anyway, we picked Malaika up from school and headed to Seefeld. We arrived there a bit early, so we sent the kids to the hotel kids’ club and we went for a short walk to the town. Then, went back to the hotel and went swimming. Then had dinner and called it a day.
Malaika woke up early, may be due to excitement, because I told her that she would be skiing with Laura. Laura is her new BFF. Somehow I could not reach Laura’s mom, and found out the exact ski location. Finally, Laura’s father called to let us know where they were. ![]()
Laura was skiing with her team and coach. And Malaika had her ski lesson in the afternoon. So it was impossible to get the girls ski together. She had to wait for Laura to finish her ski course at 3.30pm. Finally, the girls met. Terry took them to the piste. Laura is at advanced level while Malaika is at beginner to intermediate level.

Meanwhile, Kelsey had done well, he could go on a T-bar on his own. He was skiing down the beginner slope all by himself. And he went on a chair lift too, for the first time, with the ski coach. And ski-ed down, trailing behind the coach. He was doing great!
All these time, I was chatting with Laura’s parents and nibbling here and there.
On Sunday, the kids had another hour of skiing lesson before we headed home. The skiing condition was much better than Saturday – mainly sunshine with cloudy intervals. Terry took Malaika skiing while Kelsey was having his course and then he took Kelsey skiing while Malaika was having her lesson. So most of the time I was alone, sipping my cup of green tea, waiting for them to finish skiing.

Both kids do not need me to be there for them anymore. Kelsey is more confident with his skiing skills and is willing to listen to instruction. So, for the next skiing season, I will start my skiing lesson.
